Yashasvi Jaiswal hits 6th Test ton at The Oval
Jaiswal started off the five-match Test series against England at Headingley in Leeds with a terrific century, but as the series progressed, there was a dip in his form.
Even though Jaiswal was consistently scoring runs for India, he was unable to match the expectations of the fans as well as the team management.
After hitting a ton in Leeds, he hit two fifties at Edgbaston in Birmingham and Old Trafford in Manchester. Then, in the first innings of the fifth Test at the Kennington Oval in London, he fell for just 2 runs.
However, the batter brought out his best in India’s final innings with the bat on tour and made sure to finish off the series on a high in England.
On Day 2, Jaiswal came out all guns blazing and played ultra-aggressive cricket against the Bazballers. He went berserk from the ball one and took the English bowlers to the cleaners.
The fielders also gave him lifelines, and he made the most of them by slamming a 44-ball fifty. Jaiswal continued his batting brilliance on Day 3 and slammed a sensational century after lunch.
He reached the landmark on the second ball of the 51st over, which was bowled by pacer Gus Atkinson. He guided a back-of-a-length delivery from the pacer behind square and went for a single.
After completing his ton, he jumped and punched the air in delight, before taking off his helmet and gloves. He blew a flying kiss towards the dressing room and made a heart gesture with his hand. After that, he was seen pointing towards someone and again passed on a flying kiss, which left the internet curious.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Michael Atherton hailed Jaiswal as an outstanding young player and one of the best in the world. He said:
“Jaiswal is an outstanding young player. He started this series with a hundred and is finishing it with another – and it may be a hundred that takes India into a winning position.
“Jaiswal was dropped twice and is not a player you want to give chances to. He is one of the best young players in the world and scored a century that almost elicited a smile from India’s coach… Smile, Gambhir, come on!”
Meanwhile, former India head coach Ravi Shastri said that Jaiswal needs to bat longer and his job is not done yet. He said:
“It has been a very determined effort from Jaiswal but India still need a partnership of substance to get past 300, 325 .”
Speaking on BBC Test Match Special, former England skipper Michael Vaughan said that Jaiswal hit a brilliant ton and dropped catches cost the Three Lions. He said:
“Brilliant from Yashasvi Jaiswal. A wonderful player for India..Those dropped catches from last night are costing England.”
