Tambo Memorial clarifies visiting hours for moms

Serving a population of over one million in Ekurhuleni, the hospital says these changes are essential to balance quality care with family needs.

Hospital spokesperson Zoliswa Nzeku says, “While our goal is to keep mothers and their babies together throughout the hospital stay, current space limitations and the absence of a mother-baby lodge mean we cannot accommodate mothers overnight.

“Therefore, specific visiting hours have been set to allow mothers meaningful time with their newborns while maintaining operational efficiency.”

The new visiting hours for weekdays, weekends and public holidays for mothers:
• 08:00 to 10:00;
• Noon to 13:00;
• 15:00 to 16:00.

The hospital recently renovated its paediatric mother’s waiting area, which now has a breastfeeding space as part of ongoing efforts to improve the experience for mothers and families.

Management assures the community that long-term solutions are being explored to enhance accommodation for mothers and newborns.

To lodge a complaint or suggestion:
The complaint, compliment or suggestion should be registered at the point of service, ideally on the same day or before leaving the hospital.
