Kwa-Thema – Sparrows came out victorious over XI Experience in the battle of the U11s at Kwa-Thema Sports Complex on Saturday.
Although the boys in red (XI Experience) stepped onto the lawn with confidence, they failed to transform their ball possession into goals.
Sparrows opened the scoreboard after XI Experience fumbled the ball too close to the goalpost. The boys in red responded quickly to equalise.
Sparrows took back their lead just before the halftime whistle.
“I still have faith that my boys can win the match. We still have ball possession, so we can still score goals,” said coach Buhle Mngomezulu of XI Experience at halftime.

He encouraged the players to focus on the strategies they had practised to find the back of the net. Sparrows came back with more confidence in the second half, and they managed to score another goal.
Coach Samkelo Ngomane of Sparrows said he was proud of the team’s performance.
“We do need to improve in moving the ball forward so that we can score more goals. We tried to talk to them at halftime, but I know we must work on it some more,” he said.
The match ended with XI Experience trailing by one goal to Sparrows’ three.
