Apple’s ‘F1: The Movie’ roars to top of US (and) Canadian box office (Reuters)
‘The movie, which stars Brad Pitt as a Formula 1 racer who returns to the track after an accident nearly ends his career, brought in $55.6 million (£40.5m) in ticket sales in the two countries. That tally edged past the $45 million to $55 million pre-weekend domestic forecast from the Boxoffice Company.’
The debrief (Aston Martin)
Fernando Alonso: ‘Our one-stop strategy worked really well. I was unsure about it this morning because of the heat, but it paid off and the team made the right decision.’
Race recap (Haas)
Ayao Komatsu: ‘We have a new package coming for the next race, so we need to get the maximum out of it – a tenth makes a big difference – so we need to be on it.’
Double DNF in Austria (Williams)
Alexander Albon: ‘We ran into this issue which looks similar to the one in Canada, but we need to review it. We’ve had three DNFs in a row and it’s the same car as it was at the beginning of the year, so we need to investigate why it was more reliable then.’
A well-executed weekend (Ferrari)
‘Jerome D’Ambrosio: As for stepping into Fred (Vasseur’s) shoes, the reality is that in this team we have a lot of good people who know what they’re doing and so it didn’t really change anything in the process. The team operated well and the race was pretty straightforward from our perspective.’
Alexander Dunne disqualified and Bennett penalised after Spielberg feature race (Formula 2)
‘After the race, car 17 (Dunne, second place) was referred to the stewards by the technical delegate for an alleged breach of the FIA Formula 2 Technical Regulations, specifically excessive front plank wear, with a maximum thickness of 3.37mm and 3.27mm at the periphery of two of the designated holes.’
Tsolov disqualified from Spielberg feature race (Formula 2)
‘Having heard from the team representative, it was determined that the plank on car 12 (Nikola Tsolov, first place) was not within the regulatory limits, with a maximum thickness of 3.7mm at the periphery of one of the designated holes, below the minimum thickness level of 4mm.’
Bernie Ecclestone presents FIA president’s medal to Norris in Austria (FIA)
‘After presenting the medal to the McLaren driver, Bernie Ecclestone said: ‘I think it’s really nice that the president gives a personal congratulations to the winning competitor.”
Sainz failing to get away from the back at the start exactly as Brad Pitt’s character does in #F1TheMovie, however in real life the start is aborted and ‘Sonny Hayes’ doesn’t get his magic warm tyre advantage for the start. #F1 #AustrianGP #RaceFans
