Duduza – The Ace Auto Ayoba Academy celebrated its 16th anniversary in style, with its annual Players’ Graduation and Award Ceremony in honour of all its players in all divisions on May 3.
The ceremony recognised, among others, the top goal scorers, the youngest players, the newly accepted players, and the long-serving players. It also received support from various stakeholders.
Founder, managing director and coach Innocent Mayoyo said the annual awards considered performance, dedication and parental support.
“Our club is carried out by the club-parent-child principle that encourages unity among the three. These awards boost the children’s confidence and motivate their hard work and dedication to soccer.
“As a club, we strive to do things differently, adapting to the culture of doing things as the Premier Soccer League does. Our players deserve to be professionally treated,” explained Mayoyo.
He said their ceremony uplifts communities and children, saying they foster social and physical programmes in the community.
Mayoyo added that teaching soccer to young children is a form of protection because it keeps them occupied.
“This keeps the children away from unhealthy and dangerous activities like substance abuse, crime and teenage pregnancy.
“The club has an 11-year-old girl who plays soccer and loves it very much. We did not neglect her because she is also a child who deserves guidance in a sport she likes,” he added.
The award ceremony catered to all 250 in attendance.
Standard Bank carried out the Account Activation Campaign for all the Ace Auto Ayoba Academy team players and should soon provide financial knowledge and advice.
Mayoyo thanked the stakeholders for helping with the event and the parents for motivating the players and the academy.
“I praise the parents for being good examples in the community and supporting the children. I want to see other clubs venture into different programmes to motivate the children,” he said.
He added that he wants all his players to dream and aspire to be big stars through his platform.
