Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has rejoined the Lahore Qalandars squad just in time for their crucial eliminator match against Karachi Kings in PSL 2025. Lahore Qalandars will take on the Karachi Kings in the PSL 2025 Eliminator on Thursday, May 22, in Lahore.
Rishad Hossain was in Sharjah on Wednesday, May 21, as he featured in the third T20I between Bangladesh and the UAE. He played in two of the three matches in the T20I series, which Bangladesh lost to the hosts by a 2-1 margin.
Rishad Hossain returns in time to boost Lahore Qalandars for PSL 2025 Eliminator
Earlier this month, Rishad Hossain and several other overseas players had to leave Pakistan after the tournament was temporarily suspended due to rising border tensions with India. With Rishad’s return, the Lahore Qalandars now have a strong spin trio from Bangladesh for the knockouts, including senior spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

While Shakib Al Hasan has already played one match since the resumption of the tournament in Pakistan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz joined the Qalandars a few days ago. Rishad has had a solid PSL 2025 season so far, picking up nine wickets in five matches at an average of 16.44.
However, the Bangladesh spinner’s performance against the UAE wasn’t as impressive, as he took only three wickets in two outings, and the Tigers lost the T20I series before the Pakistan tour.
Rishad Hossain to available for the rest of the season
Heading into the knockout phase, Qalandars will have to make some tough decisions in their bowling attack. With fast bowlers like Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf already in the lineup, they will have to make a wise call on selecting the players from the three Bangladeshi spinners.
Rishad will stay with the Lahore team for the remainder of their PSL 2025 journey, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) extended his No Objection Certificate (NOC) from May 22 to May 25.
Actually, the reason behind that is Bangladesh’s upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, which is set to begin on May 28, just three days after the PSL 2025 Final.

Pakistan Super League 2025 Playoffs hit by double blow
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League 2025 resumed on May 17 after a short break caused by rising cross-border tensions with India. But the comeback hasn’t been smooth, as many overseas players have not returned to Pakistan for the remainder of the tournament and there is also tech trouble.
With the playoffs now underway, the ongoing season is missing some big overseas names, resulting in the teams scrambling to adjust their lineups for the high-stakes knockout games. And if that wasn’t enough drama, there’s no Decision Review System (DRS) available for the playoffs.
Fans were stunned to learn that the knockout games would go ahead without the much-needed technology that helps review umpiring decisions. While the Pakistan Cricket Board has not yet made any comment on the matter, reports suggest that the Hawk-Eye team didn’t return to Pakistan and that’s why the league now totally depends on the umpires.
